Bringing awareness to homelessness
Across the entire nation, there are individuals taking shelter on the medians of interstates, huddling in doorways, sleeping on pavement and drifting through the very veins of a city. They are often overlooked.
On April 1, 2015, the Men’s Overflow Shelter closed, leaving upwards of 80 homeless individuals without a safe place to live as the summer months approach.
This website, rAZing hope, is an extensive look at the issue of homelessness in Phoenix, Arizona.
As it is almost impossible to disassociate the word “phoenix” from the mythological bird rising from the ashes, we embark upon this story unsure of its ending. Is there still hope for the afflicted individuals? Will they, like the very name of the city, be able to start anew?
